Ranthambhore is the forth largest national park in northern India. Ranthambore National Park in every sense is the ideal destination for exploring the real wilderness. Ranthambhore was established as the Sawai Madhopur Game Sanctuary in 1955 by the Government of India and was declared one of the Project Tiger reserves in 1973. Ranthambhore became a national park in 1980.

Ranthambhore wildlife sanctuary is known for its Bengal tigers, and is one of the best places in India to see these animals in their natural jungle habitat. Tigers can be easily spotted even in the daytime. The best times for tiger sightings at Ranthambhore National Park are in November and May. Other fauna include the Indian leopard, nilgai, wild boar, sambar, striped hyena, sloth bear, southern plains gray langur, rhesus macaque, mugger crocodile and chital.
 

How to Reach Ranthambore?

There are no direct air, bus, or train connections to the park; however, there are train and bus stops in the nearby town of Sawai Madhopur, where connections can be made to most of the major cities in Rajasthan and beyond.
 
By Bus
Ranthambore visit by bus is quite a trip to look forward to, thanks to the beautiful locations. Ranthambore is well-connected from all major cities and towns through the state bus service. Apart from the state bus service, one can also have a choice to take the buses of local, opulence and private operators which aid the tourists to visit the place comfortably. There are a lot of buses going along the route that helps one for their Ranthambore trip by bus and solving the problem of how to go to Ranthambore.
 
By Train
There is no direct Ranthambore train but one can always board a train to Ranthambore from the nearest railway station. The nearest station for Ranthambore would be Sawai Madhopur situated at a distance of 10 kilometres, which is very close from Ranthambore. The Sawai Madhopur railway station is well allied from all major cities and towns so tourists can take a train from wherever they want to reach the place smoothly. From railway station the tourists can take the local bus, taxi or cab to reach the Ranthambore efficiently.
 
By Flight
Since Ranthambore lacks a separate Ranthambore Airport, one when planning a Ranthambore travel by flight must go to the nearest airport and change later to a taxi or bus. Sanganer Airport is the closest airport to Ranthambore, which is just 180 kilometres from Jaipur. As there are no direct flights to Ranthambore one must arrive at Bhubaneswar before boarding a taxi or bus to Ranthambore.
